Teaching Style Assessment Test for Tutors reflects how a tutor prefers to deliver content, interact with students, manage classes, and support learning
What is the Teaching Style Assessment Test for Tutors?
The Teaching Style Assessment Test is a structured evaluation designed to identify a tutor’s natural approach to teaching. It is based on widely accepted teaching-style frameworks used globally in teacher-training programs. The test categorizes tutors into five primary teaching styles: Expert/Lecturer, Formal Authority, Demonstrator/Personal Model, Facilitator, and Delegator. Each style reflects how a tutor prefers to deliver content, interact with students, manage classes, and support learning. The goal is not to label a tutor as “good” or “bad,” but to understand their dominant teaching tendencies.
What does it evaluate and how?
The assessment consists of statements aligned to each teaching style. Tutors respond using a 5-point scale ranging from “Strongly Agree” to “Strongly Disagree.” Each response carries a numerical value, and the test assigns those values to the teaching style connected with that statement. After all questions are answered, the system calculates a percentage score (0–100%) for each teaching style. A higher percentage indicates stronger alignment with that specific teaching approach. This multi-style scoring method reveals primary tendencies as well as secondary styles, helping tutors understand the depth and flexibility of their teaching approach.
How to read the scores
A score of 70% or above typically indicates a strong natural preference for that teaching style. Scores between 40% and 70% represent blended or balanced tendencies, showing that the tutor uses multiple approaches depending on the situation. A score below 40% does not mean weakness—it simply suggests that the tutor does not naturally adopt that style unless required. The key is to look at the dominant style (the highest score) to understand your primary approach, and then review the remaining styles to see how rounded or narrow your teaching profile is. Understanding these scores helps tutors improve their teaching effectiveness by strengthening underused styles and better aligning their methods with student needs.
